Brighton have signed 19-year-old forward Stefanos Tzimas from Nuremberg for £20.8m (25m euros).

The Greece Under-21 international has signed a contract until June 2030 but will remain in Germany with Nuremberg for the second half of the season.

“Stefanos is an exceptional young talent, an out-and-out centre-forward with a natural ability to score goals,” said Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler.

“He will join up with us in the summer, ahead of next season.”

Tzimas joined Nuremberg from PAOK in the summer on loan, in a move that included an option to buy.

Nuremberg activated that option before his move to Brighton.

Tzimas is Brighton’s third signing of the winter window after Paraguay midfielder Diego Gomez joined from Major League Soccer club Inter Miami and defender Eiran Cashin moved from Championship side Derby for a fee of £9m.

Brighton are 10th in the Premier League with 34 points from 24 matches.

Their next match is at home to Chelsea in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday (20:00 GMT).
