Rhondda Cynon Taf school reopens to give support after pupil dies

The death of a pupil has led to a secondary school reopening during the summer holidays to offer support to other children.

Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Rhydywaun, in Penywaun, Rhondda Cynon Taf, said the Year 7 pupil died over the weekend.

The school said that “we have lost a very special and precious member of our school community” and that its “thoughts and prayers are very much with the family at this very sad time”.

It will be open for a time on Wednesday and Thursday to offer assistance to any pupil. No details about the child who died have been released by the authorities.
