Chichester: Man charged with murder after pub assault

Mr Egan is due to appear before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A 42-year-old man from County Durham was arrested on suspicion of affray after the incident and has been released on conditional bail.

Sussex Police said it had also identified a third man who is suspected of affray, with efforts ongoing to bring him into custody.

Det Ch Insp Suzanne Joseph, of the Surrey and Sussex major crime team, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of the victim in this investigation, who has lost his life in such tragic circumstances.”

The force is appealing for information, including mobile or CCTV footage, to “build a clear picture of the events of that evening”, added Ms Joseph.
