Bridgerton: Show paves way for diverse stories – Banita Sandhu

Bridgerton actor Banita Sandhu has said she hopes the show’s success has paved the way for telling more ethnically diverse stories from history.

She highlighted the prominent Punjab royals in the 1800s and Queen Victoria’s Indian goddaughter as stories that “just weren’t documented, unfortunately”.

Sandhu, 26, who plays Miss Malhotra in season three of the hit Netflix period drama, has hailed the show’s inclusive cast as one of the big reasons for it’s global success.

“The reason it’s the most popular show in the world is because every person, from every country, can watch the show and see themselves in it,” she said.
