Fireworks let off in Bulwell street spark blaze at gym

A gym has been temporarily closed after a firework set off in the street came through a window and sparked a blaze inside.

Emergency services were called to Gym Beasts in Commercial Road in Bulwell, Nottingham, on Saturday night.

A video filmed from a nearby property at about 20:10 GMT shows a group of six people dressed in black letting off fireworks in the street.

Gym owner Dean Smith said it was “fortunate” no-one was in the building at the time, but added those setting off the fireworks were “putting themselves in danger too”.

Nottinghamshire Police told the BBC it had put a dispersal order in place after receiving multiple reports of fireworks being let off in the street.

Earlier in the evening, officers were also called to Tesco Extra, in Jennison Street, after a firework was let off inside the store.
