Cows returned to field after moo-ving on to Leicestershire rail line

Train services were temporarily held up after several cows broke through fencing and moo-ved on to a railway line in Leicestershire.

A spokesperson for Network Rail said it was reported at about 15:30 GMT on Monday that several cows were on the line at East Langton, in the Harborough district.

The cows were safely returned to their field just after 16:00, the spokesperson added.

On social media, officers from Leicestershire Police said fencing was repaired by Network Rail, before services were able to resume.

Network Rail apologised to any passengers whose journeys were affected.
