Searches ongoing for boy, 15, missing after lake swim

Searches are ongoing for a 15-year-old boy who was reported missing after last being seen swimming in a lake.

Testwood Lakes, near Totton, Southampton, was closed off as police marine units joined other emergency services in the search on Wednesday afternoon.

Hampshire Police said searches for the boy, last seen in the water at about 13:35 BST, were ongoing.

The nature reserve remains closed with people urged to avoid the area. Testwood Lakes is owned by Southern Water and managed by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.

The incident happened as the UK’s hottest June day on record was provisionally broken in Gosport, Hampshire, with temperatures reaching 36.1°C.

In a statement, Testwood Lakes said it was “extremely concerned” to hear of the “serious incident”.
