The Siri Overhaul Expected at WWDC 2026 Might Be Bigger Than We Imagined

For months, we’ve been speculating that Siri, Apple’s virtual assistant, is slated for a massive overhaul, likely to be announced at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday. But the revamp is likely to be even more ambitious than expected, according to a new Bloomberg report. 

Mark Gurman, the report’s author, has a solid track record of accuracy with Apple rumors. He wrote that at WWDC Apple will be unveiling new AI features, operating systems — iOS 27, iPadOS 27, MacOS 27, TVOS 27, watchOS 27 and visionOS 27 — and business features. 

But the biggest changes will be coming to Siri, including the release of a Siri app available on iOS, iPadOS and MacOS.

As part of the broader Siri redesign, Apple is expected to equip the assistant with the ability to manage multiple requests simultaneously, deliver more conversational interaction and support integrations beyond ChatGPT. The company is also expected to introduce a revamped interface.

The report also details how Apple appears to be going head-to-head with rival Perplexity, which Apple reportedly considered acquiring. 

“For the first time, Apple is launching an in-house web search product as part of Siri, competing with Perplexity AI Inc., a startup it once considered acquiring for this very purpose,” the report said. “That means Siri can answer practically any question with an in-house engine versus sending users to Google or ChatGPT. These responses include summaries, bulleted lists of information and large, rich images.”

With a new and improved Siri seemingly imminent, it’s clear Apple is ambitiously pursuing a strategy that will set the company apart from an industry defined by the AI arms race.
