What do the local election results mean for London?

The local elections have left London with a dramatically altered political map, with Labour having lost 459 councillors.

The Green Party made huge gains in former Labour strongholds, while Reform UK won its first London council.

The Conservatives and Lib Dems also increased their number of London councillors, and more seats went to Independents, while nine councils were left in no overall control.

Election expert Prof Tony Travers, from the London School of Economics, explains what the dramatic results mean for the capital.
