Eight children between the ages of one and 14 are dead after a mass shooting in Louisiana.
Local police, who responded to a call shortly after 6am, say they were killed in a “domestic disturbance”.
Shreveport police spokesperson Chris Bordelon said 10 people were shot in total.
He said the gunman was shot and killed by police during a vehicle chase and that some of the children shot were related to the suspect.
Mr Bordelon said the crime scene extended across three locations, adding: “This is an extensive scene unlike anything most of us have ever seen.”
The suspect stole a car while fleeing the scene of the shootings and was followed by police, he said.
In a statement, state police said no officers were harmed in the shooting that involved an officer after a police pursuit into Bossier City on Sunday morning.
