Murder investigation after man dies in Leeds tower block ‘attack’

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Leeds.

West Yorkshire Police said a murder investigation had been launched after officers attended reports of suspicious activity outside Gargrave Court, in Burmantofts, at 08:14 GMT.

The force said a man was found seriously injured and lying on the floor following an alleged attack and was taken to hospital, but died a short while later.

A 51-year-old man was later arrested and taken into custody.

Det Insp Joe Hayes, who is investigating the incident, said anyone with any information is asked to get in touch.

She added that neighbourhood officers were patrolling the area to “provide reassurance for residents” and urged anyone to speak with them if they had any concerns.
