Man stabbed to death in Bury on New Year’s Eve

A murder investigation is under way after a man was stabbed to death minutes before the new year began.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) was called to reports of a disturbance at an address in Tarn Drive in Bury at 23:55 GMT on Wednesday.

Officers found a man in his 20s with stab wounds, who died at the scene despite the efforts of the emergency services.

A man and woman in their 20s have both been arrested on suspicion of murder and are being questioned by detectives.

Pictures shared on social media show a blue forensic tent on a driveway at a property near the junction with Windermere Drive.

A spokesperson for GMP urged anyone with information about the man’s death to get in touch.
