Wales’ rivals Belgium and North Macedonia in stalemate

Belgium were held to a goalless draw by North Macedonia, who remain top of European World Cup qualifying Group J, with Wales sitting third.

The hosts dominated the match in Ghent but were unable to find a way past North Macedonia’s disciplined and resilient defence.

North Macedonia now lead the group with 12 points from six games — one point ahead of Belgium, who still have a game in hand.

Wales host Belgium on Monday night at Cardiff City Stadium, with Craig Bellamy’s side needing a win to keep alive their hopes of automatic qualification for next summer’s finals.
