Ashton Hewitt: Former Dragons wing announces rugby retirement

Former Dragons wing Ashton Hewitt has retired from professional rugby.

The 30-year-old left Dragons at the end of the 2024-25 season after making 131 appearances.

A product of the Dragons academy system, Hewitt made his debut in 2013 and is second in the side’s try-scoring charts with 37 tries.

“It is retirement for me, I have been tempted a couple of times and I am definitely deep into the transition now,” Hewitt told the Scrum V Warm-Up programme.

Hewitt, a former chair of the Welsh Rugby Players Association (WRPA), has set up a consultancy firm, specialising working with firms in diversity and inclusion issues.

“I have always had stuff aside from rugby, whether it be studying straight from school where I did my degree and my masters,” said Hewitt.

“The WRPA kept me busy and I learned a few things from that. I always needed something to stimulate me away from the pitch.”
