Skepta charged with drug-driving in his Mercedes in High Wycombe

British grime artist and producer Skepta has appeared in court charged with drug-driving and speeding in his Rolls-Royce.

The 43-year-old musician appeared under his real name Joseph Adenuga charged with driving his Mercedes-Maybach with tetrahydrocannabinol, a substance found in the cannabis plant, in his system on 14 May last year in High Wycombe.

The rapper is also charged with speeding at 37mph in a 30mph zone in his Rolls-Royce Phantom on Amersham Road in the Buckinghamshire town on 20 November 2023.

Mr Adenuga appeared at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court and spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth. His case was adjourned due to a “lack of court time”.

He is also charged with failing to supply information to Thames Valley Police relating to the driver of the Rolls-Royce.

Skepta, who has had two top 10 UK singles and three top 10 albums, appeared in court wearing a white T-shirt and light blue trousers.

He will now face trial for these matters in the new year.
