Reward offered as frozen prawns worth £100k stolen from Maghull

A seafood firm has offered a £25,000 reward for information on the theft of a trailer containing £100,000 of frozen prawns.

Sykes Seafood Ltd said criminals using a white DAF tractor unit carried the “fully loaded” trailer out of its secure facility in Merseyside earlier at about 00:50 BST.

The company, headquartered in Cheshire, said the theft from its seafood processing facility in Sefton Lane Industrial Estate, Maghull, was a “targeted and serious” crime.

The reward is on offer for details that directly lead to the identification and conviction of the thieves and the safe recovery of the stolen trailer and stock. Merseyside Police confirmed an incident had been reported.

Neil Townend, managing director of Sykes Seafood Ltd, said: “This was a targeted and serious crime against our business.

“We are appealing to anyone with information to come forward and assist the police in their investigation.

“Our priority is to recover the stolen stock and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”
