Video shows explosion as lorry engulfed by flames on A14

Video captured the moment a lorry’s tyres exploded as it was engulfed by flames at the side of a major road.

The vehicle, which had been carrying 50 tonnes of straw, caught fire on the A14 near Bar Hill, outside Cambridge, at about 16:00 BST on Monday.

The footage, filmed by the passenger of a passing car, showed thick smoke and flames rising from the scene.

Both the eastbound and westbound carriageways were closed while crews tackled the incident, described by a fire station commander as “incredibly complex”.
