Child charged over Laurencekirk primary school knife incident

A 12-year-old has been charged after being found with a craft knife at Laurencekirk Primary School in Aberdeenshire.

Police Scotland said it received a “report of concern” about a child in possession of a knife on Friday.

The force said the incident was reported to Youth Justice Management and officers were “working with partners to address the matter”.

An Aberdeenshire Council spokesperson said: “The safety and wellbeing of pupils is our top priority and this incident was dealt with swiftly by our staff and police.”
