Romelu Lukaku scored as Roma drew with Feyenoord in the Europa League knockout round play-off first leg.

The Belgium striker headed an equaliser from Leonardo Spinazzola’s cross for Daniele de Rossi’s side.

Feyenoord had led through Igor Paixao’s header and almost won it at the end when Luka Ivanusec hit the post.

The Europa League play-off round pits the teams who finished second in their groups with teams who finished third in their Champions League groups.

The winners from this round face the Europa League group winners in the last 16.

Former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a record-equalling 30th Europa League goal as Marseille drew 2-2 with Shakhtar Donetsk in Hamburg.

Aubameyang put Marseille ahead in the 64th minute, but Mykola Matvienko levelled after a defensive mistake for the Ukrainians, who were playing their first competitive game in two months.

Iliman Ndiaye thought he had won the game for the French side in the last minute but teenager Eguinaldo headed in for Shakhtar in injury time.

Aubameyang joined Radamel Falcao on 30 goals in the competition, the pair leading the way since the reconfiguration in 2009 from its previous incarnation as the Uefa Cup.

Mauro Icardi scored a late winner as Galatasaray beat Sparta Prague 3-2 as both sides ended with 10 men.

Kerem Demirbay put the Turkish hosts ahead, with Angelo Preciado levelling with a perfect first-time strike from the edge of the box into the bottom corner.

Dries Mertens gave Galatasaray another lead but moments later they had Victor Nelsson sent off for a professional foul. Jan Kuchta equalised soon afterwards before Matej Rynes was dismissed for two yellow-card offences. Icardi struck the winner from the edge of the box.

Sporting Lisbon won 3-1 at Young Boys thanks to an Aurele Amenda own goal, a Viktor Gyokeres penalty and an Goncalo Inacio effort. Filip Ugrinic had scored for Young Boys to make it 2-1. The Swiss side had Mohamed Ali Camara sent off late on.
