Rory McIlroy’s home golf club in Holywood celebrates Masters win

Nerves were in tatters at Holywood Golf Club in County Down as supporters watched their local hero, Rory McIlroy, sink the final putt in this year’s Master’s championship.

McIlroy grew up a short distance away from the club and has been a star there since he was a small child.

The crowd cheered wildly with delight, and some relief, when he won a play-off against Justin Rose in the early hours of Monday to take a title that had evaded him for many years.
