M6 northbound closed at J10 as emergency services called to crash

A section of the M6 has closed following a lorry crash near Wolverhampton.

National Highways said the lorry had hit the central reservation barrier on the northbound carriageway.

The M6 northbound is now closed from Junction 10 to Junction 10A of the M54, with one lane southbound also closed due to central barrier damage.

Traffic monitoring group West Midlands Roads said on X that the lorry had jack-knifed and there was debris at the scene.

A statement from the group said: “Congestion approaching closure. Expect additional traffic on A454 Black Country Route as traffic diverts.”

West Midlands Fire Service is in attendance.

Transport analytics company Inrix said there were long delays from J10 A454 Black Country Route (Wolverhampton / Walsall) to J10A M54 J10A, due to the jack-knifed lorry.

It added that there was congestion to J8 of the M6 (Rayhall and M5 Interchange).

A diversion is in place, with Inrix saying: “From J10 use the A454 towards Wolverhampton – A4150 Wolverhampton Ring Road – A449 Stafford Road for J2 M54 and then A5 Watling Street for J12 M6.”
