Work to restore sails is under way

Conservation experts have started work to restore sails to a windmill which is nearly 400 years old.

Chesterton Windmill in Warwickshire losts its sails in 2021 after safety checks revealed cracks in the wood.

On Friday, the second of two giant stocks which will hold the replacement sails in place were hauled into position.

The windmill is a hugely popular monument in the county and can be seen from the M40 motorway, with more than 15,000 images of the Scheduled Ancient Monument on Instagram.
