Wakefield Trinity have signed Australian hooker Tyson Smoothy for the 2026 season.
Smoothy will join Wakefield on a three-year contract from NRL side Brisbane Broncos.
The 25-year-old has played 31 times for the Broncos including in their Grand Final defeat to Penrith Panthers in 2023.
“Managing to get Tyson’s signature is a huge coup for Wakefield Trinity,” recruitment manager Ste Mills told the club’s website, external.
“Signing a regular NRL player who’s coming into his prime shows you where the club is heading and how everyone is buying into a common goal.”
Wakefield are seventh on their Super League return with a win and a loss and they play St Helens on Saturday (14:30 GMT).
