The West Midlands Police pups practising their doggy paddle

Police puppies have been practising their doggy paddle as they prepare to chase future criminals.

For some of them, swimming at Maverick Mutts in Walsall is their first experience in water.

West Midlands Police uses the pool to train their pups and give their police dogs some much needed downtime.

“It’s something different for them to do, they work really hard for us and they can have a splash around,” Leanne Chapman from the force’s dog unit said.
