Investigation launched after chlorine exposure at Derbyshire spa

An investigation has been launched after four people were taken to hospital due to excess chlorine exposure at a swimming pool and spa in Derbyshire.

Erewash Borough Council confirmed its environmental health team is working with Clifford Health Club and Spa in Regent Street, Long Eaton.

On Tuesday, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said 27 people had been exposed and 10 were showing symptoms relating to exposure, but added that none of the symptoms were serious.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the venue said the pool and spa was closed on Wednesday – despite being given the green light to reopen – to allow more time to “assess and review”.
