Yeadon gas explosion: Man, 57, seriously injured

A man has been taken to hospital after being seriously injured in a suspected gas explosion at a house in West Yorkshire.

Emergency services were called to multiple reports of an explosion at a property in Marshall Street, Yeadon, at 22.35 GMT on Wednesday.

West Yorkshire Police said several houses had to be evacuated, with two having sustained “substantial damage”, however all residents – bar those at the two badly damaged properties – have now returned homed.

A force spokesperson said: “Initial investigations suggest it was a gas explosion, the source of the gas is currently under investigation.”
