Power cuts and flood warnings across North East and Cumbria

A yellow rain warning for the North East ended at 09:00 GMT and the flood warnings cover the River Coquet at Felton Riverside and at Brinkburn, and Weldon and the River Rede at Otterburn Mill and Brownchesters Farm.

Flood alerts are in place for the Tyne and Wear coast and the coastal streams in Redcar and Cleveland, among others.

On Saturday there were eight flood alerts across Cumbria, but they have been reduced to two – one for the Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwent Water, near Keswick, and one for the rivers Brathay, Rothay and Winster at Bowness-on-Windermere.

The Windermere ferry remains out of service.

National Highways closed the A19 Tees Flyover near Middlesbrough to high sided and vulnerable vehicles due to strong winds.

The A66, which was closed on Saturday due to the weather, has reopened today.
