Londonderry: Stabbing treated as race hate crime

A 27-year-old man has been stabbed multiple times in what police are treating as a racially motivated hate crime.

It happened in a shop shortly after 01:40 BST on Sunday in the Foyle Street area of Londonderry.

The man was taken to hospital for injuries to his left shoulder and lower back but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A 24-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon and theft.
