Dean Huijsen: Bournemouth sign teenage defender for £12.8m from Juventus

Bournemouth have signed teenage Juventus defender Dean Huijsen on a six-year deal for an initial £12.8m.

The deal for the 19-year-old could rise to £15.3m with add-ons, which is payable over five years.

He becomes the club’s fourth summer signing after the arrival of Alex Paulsen, Daniel Jebbison and a permanent deal for Enes Unal, who initially joined on loan from Getafe in January.

Huijsen was born in the Netherlands and played internationally for their age groups until under-19s level.

He moved to Spain when he was five years old and gained Spanish citizenship this year, making his under-21s debut in March.

Huijsen moves to the south coast after making 13 appearances on loan for Roma in the second half of last season.

“We are delighted to bring in a player of such high calibre on a long-term deal,” said Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake.

“Dean is someone that has such exciting potential and we are all excited to see where his journey with the club will go.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming him to Vitality Stadium and working together to help develop further all the qualities that he already possesses.”
