Arrest after woman seriously injured in fall from window

A woman has been arrested and charged over an attempted murder after another woman fell from a flat window in North Ayrshire.

The 49-year-old who fell was found seriously injured in Glasgow Street, Ardrossan, at about 09:55 on Thursday.

She was taken to Crosshouse Hospital where her condition has been described as stable.

The 45-year-old woman who was arrested is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

Police are urging any drivers with dashcams who were in the area between 09:30 and 10:00 on Thursday to review their footage in case they captured something significant.

Det Con Steven Kerr said: “Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding how the victim came to be injured and it is vital that any members of the public with information which could assist our investigation come forward, external.

“We are looking to speak to anyone who was in the area of Glasgow Street around the time of the incident and may have witnessed what happened.”
