Labour’s North Sea plans ‘will risk 100,000 jobs’ – Flynn

The SNP’s Stephen Flynn has accused Labour of putting tens of thousands of North Sea jobs at risk with its windfall tax plans for the sector.

Speaking to the BBC’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg show, the SNP’s Westminster leader said he wanted to see a “just and sustainable” transition to net zero.

Mr Flynn said Labour’s proposal for a time-limited windfall tax on fossil fuel companies would result in “100,000 job losses”.

And he said the Tory position was to “act like oil and gas will last forever”.

Last week BBC Verify examined Mr Flynn’s claim but concluded it was misleading to suggest Labour’s plans put all of those jobs at risk.
