River Leven search under way after woman enters water

A search is under way in a section of the River Leven following reports a woman entered the water.

Police, fire crews and a team from HM Coastguard were searching part of the waterway in Dumbarton after reports of the incident at about 21:00 on Friday.

Rescuers were unable to trace the woman, but searches resumed on Saturday morning.

The woman, who was believed to be wearing a dark top and jeans with black trainers, was described as being white, about 6ft tall, with long brown hair and a cross tattoo on her left shoulder.
