A video showing two mice appearing from the floor of a bar at a high-end restaurant chain has gone viral, attracting more than 1.5 million views on TikTok.
Eleanor Somerville filmed the rodents on the evening of Saturday 12 July while dining at The Original Ivy in the West End of central London.
A spokesperson for the restaurant said: “At The Ivy, the safety and comfort of our guests are our highest priorities. We have a comprehensive pest management system in place, which includes daily inspections and regular audits by independent specialists, to ensure we maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.”
“The restaurant has consistently achieved a Food Hygiene Rating of five, reflecting our strong commitment to these standards. We sincerely apologise for any discomfort the incident may have caused and are taking all necessary steps to address it promptly and thoroughly.”
Figures from 2017 showed that more than 100 complaints about rats and mice were made on average to London councils each day.
