‘Old fashioned’ 65p oven cleaning tip has fans raving with ‘no need to scrub’

Cleaning an oven is a notoriously difficult task which puts many people off – it’s time-consuming, messy and requires a ton of elbow grease.

However, not cleaning your oven blocks the heating element, takes longer to heat up food, costs more energy, and even poses a fire hazard.

Thankfully, cleaning fans from Mrs Hinch’s Facebook group, have shared their secret technique to making the gruelling task a little more manageable.

One member shared that she has a disability and owns pet birds, so she can’t use anything with strong fumes.

She shared an affordable cleaning paste she makes with ingredients you can find at home – it costs around 60p.

Baking soda only costs £0.65 in most local supermarkets, making this an affordable and effective option.

Another user chimed in with a similar technique but suggested leaving the paste on the warm surfaces overnight.

They said: “Old fashioned but works with no fumes-paste of baking soda spread onto warm surfaces and left overnight. Just wipe off and rinse with a damp cloth.”
