Newport County maintained their early challenge at the top of League Two against 10-man Tranmere Rovers.

Saikou Janneh struck before the break with his first goal for the hosts, guiding the ball into the top right hand side of the net from a corner.

The visitors saw Paul Lewis sent off in the second period for a dangerous challenge on Joss Labadie.

On his 40th birthday Michael Flynn’s side stayed second in the table behind leaders Cambridge United.

Rovers ended the day 15th after the second defeat of their campaign.
