A 37-year-old man has appeared in court in Edinburgh charged with assault after a video of a violent attack on a cyclist was shared on social media.
Joseph Hedley is alleged to have attacked a 34-year-old cyclist on the city’s High School Wynd last Friday. The man was taken to hospital after the incident.
At Edinburgh Sheriff Court Mr Hedley entered no plea to charges of assault to severe injury, impairment and danger to life.
He was released on bail and no date was set for his next appearance in court.
