Man charged after police raid £1m cannabis farm in Shotts

Police discovered the cannabis farm during a raid on a property in Shotts

A man has been arrested after police raided a cannabis farm and seized drugs worth almost £1m in North Lanarkshire.

Police Scotland said officers recovered the plants after from a property on High Street, Shotts, at about 09:00 on Thursday.

A force spokesperson said the drugs had an estimated street value of about £997,800.

A 51-year-old man has been charged in connection with the raid and is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday.

Sgt John Logan described the discovery as “very significant”.

He added: “Drugs cause misery in our communities and the public has an important role to play in helping Police Scotland target those responsible for the cultivation, supply and sale of illegal substances.”
