A man has been arrested after a police dog was injured in Aberdeen.

Officers along with the canine unit responded to reports of a man in possession of a knife on Seaforth Road in the city at about 16:50 on Friday.

The 27-year-old was arrested, but a police dog was injured during the operation.

The dog was taken to a vet for treatment, while the man was transported to hospital.

Police said Seaforth Road would remain closed at the junction with Park Road until further notice.

Drivers and pedestrians have been asked to avoid the area while a police presence remains on the scene.
