A child has sustained injuries to their face, hands, arms and legs after being knocked to the ground by a boy riding an e-scooter in Londonderry.

The incident happened shortly before 09:30 BST on Sunday morning in the Shantallow area of the city, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said.

The child was with a parent on a scooter when a boy came around a corner near a community centre on an e-scooter and collided with them, causing the child to fall.

The PSNI said the e-scooter user stopped briefly and apologised but then later left the scene without providing his details.

“This was a really traumatic and shocking incident for this child and for their parent,” police said.

Officers have appealed for witnesses or anyone with footage of the incident to come forward.
