Manchester City have made a bid to sign Aston Villa midfielder Laura Blindkilde Brown before the Women’s Super League transfer window closes in January.
City are understood to have offered close to £200,000 for the 20-year-old, who has spent four years at Villa.
Blindkilde Brown would be seen as a replacement for the injured Jill Roord, who ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) last week.
The WSL transfer window closes at 23:00 GMT on Wednesday.
Blindkilde Brown has started eight of Villa’s 12 WSL matches this season and has represented England through the age groups.
Villa, who sit eighth in the WSL table after a disappointing start to the campaign, have already lost versatile England international Lucy Parker to a long-term ankle injury this year.
They are unlikely to replace Blindkilde Brown in the transfer window as things stand but will continue to look in the market until Wednesday’s deadline, with a centre-back also on their shopping list.
City are three points off leaders Chelsea in the WSL table and are seeking their first league title in eight years.
