Larne: Overturned boat sparks rescue operation

Lifeboat crews and a coastguard helicopter have been deployed in a rescue operation after a report that a boat had capsized off the coast of Larne, County Antrim.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) was informed that a catamaran had overturned about 12 miles (19km) off the Larne coast on Monday afternoon.

Two all-weather lifeboat crews from Larne and Red Bay RNLI stations are involved in the operation which is believed to be ongoing, an RNLI spokeswoman told BBC News NI.

She said a coastguard helicopter from Prestwick in Scotland is also assisting.
