‘I never thought I could play ice hockey in Kenya’

There is only one place in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, where it reaches below 9C.

It’s where the Kenya Ice Lions – the country’s only ice hockey team – train weekly.

Despite the sport being uncommon across Africa, the Ice Lions have continued to go from strength to strength.

They will now get a chance to compete on the international stage having recently gained membership of the International Ice Hockey Federation.

The BBC recently visited the team in Nairobi to find out more about their journey.

Produced by Priya Sippy, Gloria Achieng and Brian Khisa.
