Brentford have signed Iceland goalkeeper Hakon Valdimarsson from Swedish side Elfsborg until June 2028 for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old was named 2023 Goalkeeper of the Year in the Swedish top flight after keeping the most clean sheets in the division.
Valdimarsson has won five Iceland caps, having made his debut against Portugal in November 2023.
He joins the Bees for a fee reportedly worth £2.6m.
He follows Turkish midfielder Yunus Emre Konak from Sivasspor and left-back Sergio Reguilon, on loan from Tottenham, as the west London club’s third January signing.
Brentford head coach Thomas Frank said: “I’m very, very happy that we’ve managed to sign Hakon. There was competition from a lot of other clubs, including some in the Premier League.
“Hakon is an exciting keeper. He is good at dominating his box, claiming crosses from set-pieces and in open play.
“His distribution is also at a high level and he fits the way we want to play, which is very important.”
