Boy, 13, arrested over hit-and-runs in Boston, Alford and Calceby

A 13-year-old boy has been arrested after three cyclists and an elderly pedestrian were allegedly hit by a vehicle in four separate incidents in Lincolnshire that police believe are linked.

Police said the incidents happened between 06:44 and 10:04 BST on Friday in Boston, Maltby Le Marsh, Alford and Calceby.

The teenager was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving whilst unfit through drugs, driving without a licence and insurance and aggravated vehicle taking.

Sgt Billy Spence said: “This is an unusual and, most likely, a worrying set of incidents for people who may been in the area.”

Officers believe a black Range Rover may have been involved in each of the incidents.

The force said it was first alerted to an incident on Priory Road, Boston, where a male cyclist was seriously injured after being knocked off his bike.

At 08:20, officers received a second report of another male cyclist having been knocked off his bike at Maltby Le Marsh, near Alford.

A third incident was reported on West Street, Alford, 20 minutes later where an elderly man had been knocked over by a vehicle. He suffered minor injuries.

Lincolnshire Police said it recieved reports of a further incident at 10:04 involving a third cyclist who was hit by a vehicle on Bluestone Heath Road, Calceby.

The vehicle failed to stop in all of the incidents, police said.

Sgt Spence added: “We have a young man in custody and we are keeping an open mind about the exact events, but we believe these incidents are linked.

“I would also ask that the wider public do not speculate about what has happened here and allow us to carry out our enquiries as fairly and freely as possible.”

Officers appealed for anyone with footage or information to contact them.
