Man dies after being struck by vehicle in east Belfast

A man has died following a road traffic collision in east Belfast.

Police said that shortly after 23:00 BST on Saturday, they received a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on the Ballygowan Road.

“Our officers attended alongside emergency service partners, however the man was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene,” Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Insp Cherith Adair said.

The Ballygowan Road was closed overnight, but has since reopened. Police have appealed for information about the incident.
